BIOGRAPHY

English actress Jessica Barden spent her childhood in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, before moving with her working-class family to Wetherby. She discovered a passion for the dramatic arts early on through a local drama club, making her official television debut as a child actress in a 1999 episode of the comedy series My Parents Are Aliens. Committed to pursuing performance full-time, she chose to leave traditional schooling at age fifteen to firmly establish her career.

Barden initially built her industry profile with recurring television parts, notably playing Kayleigh Morton on the popular British soap opera Coronation Street. She successfully transitioned into cinema with a film debut in Mrs Ratcliffe's Revolution, followed by standout supporting performances in acclaimed projects like Tamara Drewe, Hanna, and Yorgos Lanthimos's surreal satire The Lobster. These varied roles safely earned her recognition as a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit and a Screen International Star of Tomorrow.

International stardom arrived with her breakout lead role as Alyssa Foley in the dark comedy-drama series The End of the F*ing World. She followed this success by headlining independent feature films such as Scarborough, The New Romantic, and Holler. Barden has continually expanded her versatility by taking on key roles in prominent television thrillers like Pieces of Her and the sci-fi prequel series Dune: Prophecy.
