Zoe Kazan has established herself as a highly accomplished American actress, playwright, and screenwriter. Born in Los Angeles into a prominent filmmaking family—as the daughter of screenwriters Nicholas Kazan and Robin Swicord, and granddaughter of legendary director Elia Kazan—she initially honed her craft at Yale University, earning a BA in Theatre. She began her professional career in earnest on the New York stage, making her Broadway debut in the 2008 revival of Come Back, Little Sheba and earning early critical praise.

Her film career rapidly progressed with standout supporting roles in acclaimed features like The Savages, Revolutionary Road, and the romantic comedy It's Complicated. Kazan expanded her artistic reach by venturing behind the camera, writing and starring in the fantasy-romance Ruby Sparks alongside her partner Paul Dano. She later garnered significant mainstream recognition and a dedicated following for her leading performance in the smash-hit romantic comedy-drama The Big Sick, and for her role in the Coen brothers' Western anthology The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

She co-wrote the film Wildlife and delivered a powerful performance as journalist Jodi Kantor in the biographical drama She Said.
