Isabela Merced, originally performing under her birth name Isabela Moner, began her acting career in community theatre at age six before making her Broadway debut at age ten in a 2012 production of Evita. She soon made a successful transition to television, securing the lead role of CJ Martin on the Nickelodeon comedy series 100 Things to Do Before High School.

Her cinematic career expanded rapidly with prominent roles in major studio films, including Transformers: The Last Knight (2017), Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018), and the comedy Instant Family (2018). In 2019, she starred as the iconic titular character in Dora and the Lost City of Gold, which marked her final professional credit under her birth name before she formally adopted the surname Merced to honour her late grandmother.

Merced's presence as a versatile star solidified through a string of major franchise roles. She starred in the sci-fi horror feature Alien: Romulus (2024) and the romantic drama Turtles All the Way Down (2024). She further expanded her profile by joining massive cultural properties, portraying Dina in the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us and Kendra Saunders, also known as Hawkgirl, in the DC Universe film Superman.
